Holiday Housewalk

The event began in 1991 as the "Winter Walk," a festive tradition where Marengo residents decorated their homes for Christmas, inviting both locals and visitors to stroll through the streets and admire the beautiful holiday displays. In the early years, many homeowners offered refreshments to guests, while some enterprising residents also sold handmade Christmas crafts.

As the event grew in popularity, it became a cherished pre-Christmas tradition in Marengo. However, as the number of participating homes gradually declined, organizers introduced a formal art and craft fair. This addition allowed local residents who didn’t take part in the walk to still showcase and sell their handmade creations, ensuring the event’s continued success.
